Turbo Turf 500 gallon project
« on: Sun September 13, 2015, 07:09:27 PM »
After dragging my feet, I finally picked up the hydroseeder at my friends today. I joined the IAHP earlier in the year, missed out on a few jobs due to the fact i hadn't been able to pick the unit up and start work. It probably has not been used in 4 years so it will take some tlc.

As of now the engine seems stuck, the crank case is overfull so tomorrows project is to drain it out and see where it gets me. There is also a piece of Cast on the pump that cracked due to the fact the previous owner never drained or cleaned it out after use and the winter took over it. I started to clean the unit off today and clean the tank out.

Other than replacing the spray hose any other tips to tune this up?

Thanks,

Bryan

The engine could be stuck or it may be that the impeller is jammed or some other problem that is pump related.  That is a fairly old unit.  We haven't used AMT pumps for ages but does look to be in decent condition.

Keep us posted on your progress and If I can offer any suggestions I will be happy to do so.

The best thing would be to call AMT directly and ask where you can buy parts.  Their phone number is (610) 948-3800. They are based in Royersford PA.

We can't buy parts or anything from AMT any longer.  We could have some parts left in stock but finding them would be next to impossible.  If you have any trouble getting them I can look and see if I can find any but the best bet is to give them a call.  Their customer service used to be pretty good and probably still is.

Great thanks, I've reached out to a few listed dealers for parts availability. Hope to get this thing back in action in next week or so

Been busy and have had time to work on it again, the existing engine had a threaded shaft that was direct mounted to the pump impeller. i have another engine that has a 1" Keyed shaft, is it possible to use this engine with a Lovejoy type coupling or does it need to be the same threaded shaft to keep it true?

Since the impeller inside the pump mounts directly onto the engine shaft it pretty much needs to be mounted on an engine with a threaded shaft.  The shaft size and length need to match what was on it before.

The new engine is all back together with the pump rebuilt, i need to get new hoses made up from pump housing to the tank. Any good sources online or locally?

Just google hose suppliers and there should be someone close to you that can make up those hoses for you.  I am guessing your unit has two 3" suction lines so you want 3" suction hose with pin lug couplers.   It's the same type of hose that is used for 3" water pumps so any hose dealer should be able to fix you up.  That is a fairly old unit but looks to be in good shape.
